Some have regarded Colossians 1:15-23 as one of the most powerful theological statements about Jesus. From a prison cell, Paul makes the claim that Jesus is far higher than any other entity in the world. This stands in stark contrast to the claims made by the Roman empire where the “Caesar” was Lord. Where in our lives to we struggle with Jesus’ superiority?
